Colour & Repeat (Research & Conceptual Layouts)

This product is tailored to be stress-free and promote a stress-free lifestyle. It is tailored toward Generation X, ages 45-54, a generation so close to retirement and ready to exit the workforce, yet still working. They have more disposable income to spend, as well as more of a desire to relax as they start to get older. As women spend more than men, this item would be primarily targeting women. I want this product to promote relaxation, especially during colder seasons like late fall, winter, and early spring, which is why it would be a warmer item. The product would be one that is versatile, using themes and colours related to nature and typically something the general public would enjoy. Part of the versatility is the warmth of a cardigan, making it wearable in colder weather, which is the majority of months in Canada. Also, due to it being an item that layers well, this product could be paired with a multitude of different outfits. It would still be an interesting item of clothing, as it uses a unique pattern, making it less dull than the same type of product that is a solid colour. Winter can be a difficult season, as there is less sun, and our surroundings tend to be desaturated from the lack of plants and increase of white snow. Oftentimes, having living nature around us can be a mood booster, and I want this product to be reminiscent of this when it is too cold to see the proper greens of nature.
